I love behind-the-scenes stories about apps, which I find helpful as I work on my first one for Windows Phone. Today Microsoft’s Craig Kerwien provides the creation story for the official Office Blogs app, which hit Marketplace last week.

As readers of this blog, you know that I like to travel. Some may even say I have a wanderlust; this new spin-word is German and breaks down to exactly what it means: a lust for wandering. It’s for people who don’t just like to visit places but need to wander through them – meander, grow and learn as part of a new environment. I love my job a bit too much to give it all up for a lifetime of wandering but I try to book in all the travel I can.

The nominations have been announced, the red carpet is ready to be rolled out, and the film industry is prepping for their biggest night of the year. With the biggest night of movie awards this weekend, we thought it might be fun to look at star PCs, recommended for small businesses with Windows 7 Professional, that could also be good fits for the characters in the Best Picture nominated films. Like the movies, these nine PCs all deserve the award for style and function.

Hotmail introduced advanced features for fighting the war on graymail this past fall, and since then, customers have conquered graymail over 100 million times using features like Sweep and Schedule Cleanup.

Living in Seattle, we see a lot of gray- gray sky, gray clothes, gray weather. So, they last thing we want to have overwhelming our inboxes is graymail. For those of you who don’t know, graymail is the mail that lives between spam and personal mail. It’s the catalogues you’ve signed up for, the school PTA letters, or the coupon buster newsletter. You want to get it; you just don’t want to read it all.

Microsoft’s Channel 9 kicked off a new tips & tricks video series for Windows Phone today called “Minute of Mango” that’s fun and worth watching.

The series, hosted by the always vivacious Laura Foy, is geared toward anybody looking to save time and do more with their phones. Check out the first episode on making custom ringtones below, then make sure to subscribe or share the series with friends or family. Trust me, they’ll thank you. Laura plans to broadcast 3 new tips a week for the next 10 weeks.
